Advent Calendars

There are really three things you should know about tool advent calendars: tradition, process and value.

Tradition: The Advent season is an observation of the few weeks leading up to Christmas, and in modern times starts on December 1st. Advent calendars started to appear in the late 19th and early 20th century in German churches. They started gaining popularity and became a mainstay. Traditionally, Advent calendars feature some Christmas imagery and count up from December 1st to December 24th, Christmas Eve. More contemporary versions run the gamut of religious and secular themes, from sports to chocolate and, of course, tools!

Process: This is the easy part. Calendars come in many forms and materials, but they all have the same concept. Every day of December leading up to Christmas Eve, the calendar owner gets a gift of some sort. This typically is hidden by a door or contained in a box. The calendar does not give exact dates, but signals each day with a simple number; so on Dec. 1st you would open door one, Dec. 2nd door two, and so forth. Since the gifts are hidden, you never what you will get each day so it’s like opening a present for 24 days in a row!

Value: The German Tool Calendars that KC Tool carries each year are possibly the best deal in German tools all year. Our most popular calendar is from the brand Wera and is eagerly awaited each year. That is because you normally get a significant amount of tools for a fraction of the usual cost. When you take the components, and add them up singularly, the total value is usually in the 120-150 dollar range. Wera Calendars are usually in the 80-85 dollar range, so you could see discounts upwards of 40% off!

BONUS! Many of the tool Advent calendars come with limited edition or exclusive pieces. Some years it is a new color scheme, in others it could be new tools that are being released the next year. You might also get super unique things, like the 2024 Wera Advent Calendar which includes salt and pepper shakers!
