    Impulse Buy

Purchased for myself to "balance" with my kids' Lego Advent calendars (Friends & Star Wars -a family ritual). I'm so excited I feel like a kid again. Have not opened yet but can't wait!

    Wera 136601 Advent Calendar

Posted by Philip Lipton on Oct 8th 2020

Do you realize that the calendar 18" x 22"? That is big! It is a gift for my daughter. I think she will have fun with it. There is a tool for every day and at the end, she will have a nice little starter kit. It is also a chance for my kid to learn the difference between cheap tools and the best made tools in the world.

    Tis the Season, Almost

This is my third year buying the Wera Advent Calendar. Way more interesting than the ones my kids get. And Wera's textile pouch sets are brilliantly packaged bits of kit.

    replace the handle

Posted by David Eisenhardt on Sep 14th 2020

if you are reading this review you already know the Wera Kraftform Kompakt bit holding driver (WR051025 is the one I own) is nearly perfect, and you are probably wanting a stubby version of it, just like i was, with the same level of quality and functionality. I could tell from the photos it wouldn't be exactly the same but was still hopeful it would be a valuable addition to my daily use tools. Unlike the typical KK handle there is no button to release the bit storage, you just pull on the end cap. whether open or closed, the end cap is wobbly. It is too wobbly to really use it as a 'spinner cap' like you would use a precision driver. Since the lip of the end cap is larger than the handle, it isn't comfortable to hold in the palm if that's how you hold a stubby driver. If prefer a smaller handle because you have small hands, i guess it wouldn't get in the way as much. All the bits, sockets, ratchet, case, and bottle opener are exactly the same quality you expect from Wera. I have several previous years' seasonal sets from several manufacturers and never felt any of them were gimmicky or lesser quality. And especially considering the Easter items last year and this were exceptional, this does not continue the trend. Considering that across the board is you won't get a complete set of (sockets/bits/drivers) when buying a seasonal set, but instead a variety of the most common sizes (I have got at least 8 Wera 10mm sockets for example) but we all know that going into buying one. What could have made this set exceptional would have been if it were based around the WR003660 and instead of the hex & torx were bits, and a WR136000 hex to 6,35mm adapter. That would make this set truly exceptional and highly versatile. This year i feel that they designed the set around a product they knew would not stand up on its own.

    Wera Advent 2020

Posted by James Reiser on Sep 4th 2020

These are my first Wera tools, so I can only comment on my initial impressions. Quality seems high and it's a charming little kit. There's lots of neat features like how the sockets twist to lock to the case to keep them from falling out. My kids loved opening up the calendar and I'm looking forward to putting it to use.
