Two Versions

KC Tools service was excellent as always, but I am ultimately disappointed with this pair of pliers. The original pair I received looked exactly like the pair shown in the product video posted by KC tools, with jaws that tapered in both width and depth to almost needle points--perfect for delicate work like sneaking under components on a circuit board to snip leads. Unfortunately that pair broke the first time I used them to snip very thin gauge copper wire (about 20 awg) with light pressure. These things occasionally happen and KC Tools was great and shipped out a replacement along with a very nice gift for the inconvenience. Unfortunately though, it seems as though Knipex updated this model and the updated version has a stubby jaw shape that is not nearly as tapered as the original version (think the overall shape of lineman's pliers). The model number is identical and the dimensions conform to the product description, but the forgings are different. The original set had the "Knipex" logo stamped in relief into the forgings as shown in the video. The replacements are merely laser etched. That is not a functional issue, but indicates that there was a change in production. The new pliers are of good quality, as are all Knipex tools, but the updated jaw shape makes them far less useful for the purposes I originally bought them.
